Cake Decorator

Ukrop's Homestyle Foods is seeking a Full-time Cake Decorator for our Central Bakery located at 2020 Westmoreland Street in Richmond, VA.  The ideal candidate will possess a passion for superior Customer Service, a positive attitude and will work with a sense of urgency to satisfy our customer's cake needs.  

Position Summary:

The Cake Decorator will be able to decorate cakes with buttercream, chocolate fudge, and whipped.  He or she will also perform a variety of duties associated with food production and shipping at our Central Bakery, such as decorating, scaling, assembling product, packaging, cutting, prepping and deliveries.  Decorating shifts operate between 7:00 a.m. to Finish, which could be 3:30 p.m. or later, Monday through Saturday and Sundays as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Icing and decorating of special-order sheet, round, and layer cakes, as well as cupcakes
• Assembling, prepping, sorting, adding or slicing of finished product in preparation for packaging
• Assisting to maintain a clean and safe workspace
• Inspection and labeling of product
• Operation of packaging, slicing, transitioning and/or cleaning equipment
• Assisting in ensuring that the SQF system is in place and that we are in compliance with all aspects of HACCP plan, SSOPs, and GMPs throughout the plant
• Reporting all food safety issues to an immediate supervisor

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• One year experience or more working with decorating cakes in a bakery or cake decorating environment
• Proficient in decorating techniques, mixing icings and coordinating colors to create a variety of decorated goods
