Description

Columbus Humane is seeking a customer service extraordinaire to join our call center team. This critical role answers all incoming telephone calls to the shelter, general emails, and works closely with other departments including Veterinary Services, Direct Client Care, Development and Marketing as well as our Cruelty Investigations and Volunteer Programs.

This is a part time position, Monday - Wednesday (24 hours per week), $18 per hour.

SUMMARY

Contributes to Columbus Humane's mission and vision by ensuring exceptional customer care in the Call Center by answering all incoming phone calls and general emails. Appropriately handles inquiries and when needed, transfers to the correct departments and staff. Tracks call data within established software system. Works closely with other departments including Veterinary Services, Direct Client Care, Development and Communications, Cruelty Investigations, and Volunteer Programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Thinks, communicates and acts in the best interest of Columbus Humane and our human and animal clients at all times; models our mission and values in all job-related functions.
Responsible for delivering and ensuring a positive first impression for the public initially reaching out by phone or email.
Manage inbound and outbound calls in a timely manner.
Identify customers' needs, clarify information, provide solutions and/or alternatives.
Represents Columbus Humane in a professional and courteous manner.
Educates clients on standard organizational policies and procedures.
Assists with administrative tasks, including, but not limited to preparing event materials, preparing and sending solicitation and acknowledgement letters, preparing adoption packets, conducting status checks in Pet Finder/Pet FBI.
Promotes communication and cooperation between Columbus Humane departments.
Actively promotes Columbus Humane's mission, services, programs and events.
Actively supports staff and volunteers and promotes the development of skills related to the advancement of our goals and mission. Represents Columbus Humane in a professional and courteous manner at all times. Provides quality service to customers, volunteers, and staff recognizing their individual contribution to the success of our organization.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Demonstrated customer service stills and the ability to effectively communicate and relate to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Basic computer skills; comfortable learning and navigating new software systems.
Passionate belief in Columbus Humane's vison, mission and values.
Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

At times required to lift up to 15 pounds with reasonable accommodation, performing duties at a computer workstation. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a normal shelter setting including exposure to hazardous chemicals and potential of exposure to parasites and infectious diseases that can be carried and transmitted by animals.

Salary Description

$18 per hour
