Job Description - Call Center Nurse - LVN / LPN (Telephonic Support)

Summary



Provide telephonic nursing support for routine, lower‑acuity school health calls under established protocols; escalate higher‑acuity issues to RN staff and coordinate follow‑up with campus nurses.



Job Overview
We are hiring LVN/LPNs to provide telephonic support for CFISD’s school health call center. This role involves handling routine inquiries, providing education and basic guidance, and ensuring appropriate escalation when clinical limits are reached. Successful candidates are patient, organized, and skilled at clear phone communication.



Responsibilities



  • Triage lower‑acuity calls and provide scripted guidance for common school health issues.

  • Document interactions in district-required format and maintain call logs.

  • Escalate clinical concerns to RN staff and coordinate referrals to campus nurses or higher levels of care.

  • Provide education to parents and campus staff about symptom management, routine care, and return‑to‑school criteria.

  • Assist with data collection, follow‑up scheduling, and other call center tasks as assigned.



Typical schedule/setting:
Remote or onsite call center shifts during school hours; may be part‑time or shift‑based.



Supervision/reporting:


Reports to Call Center RN lead or CFISD Health Services supervisor; collaborates with campus nursing staff.



Documentation & compliance:


Follow FERPA/HIPAA confidentiality; accurate electronic documentation; maintain required certifications and background checks.



Requirements:



  • Active Texas LVN/LPN license.

  • Minimum 1 year clinical experience; phone triage or customer service experience preferred.

  • Current BLS/CPR certification if required.

  • Strong phone communication, basic triage ability, and accurate documentation skills.

  • Proficiency with basic office software and willingness to learn call center systems.

  • Ability to pass Texas fingerprint criminal background check and complete TEA pre‑service affidavit (SB571) if applicable.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience in pediatric care, school health, or telephonic nursing support.

  • Prior use of electronic health records or call center documentation tools.
