Job Description - Calling Prep Academy Coordinator

Job Summary (Full time or Part time)


 


 Under the direction of the HOS and supervision of the Calling Prep Director, the Calling Prep Academy Coordinator (CPAC) will direct and oversee the day-to-day operation of the of the CP Academy he/she leads. The CPAC will plan, organize, and implement effective supervision and collaboration with staff and volunteers, helping guide students to pursue their God-given giftings and passions, and leading the assessment of student progress and performance. As part of the CCA leadership team, the CPD will work closely with school administrators and department heads.


 


This individual will serve as a minister of Christ in all activities performed as an employee of Cornerstone Christian Academy/Cornerstone Chapel. The CPAC will ensure that all students are instilled with a Biblical worldview and supervised in a safe and loving learning environment that fosters spiritual, social and intellectual, and pursuit of gifts and calling development. As a Christian role model for staff and students, the CPAC must exhibit patience, grace, humility and integrity when working with administration, faculty, students and parents. The CPAC must have a strong, active and committed relationship with Jesus Christ, a willingness to lead with a humble heart, a passion for Christian education, expertise, experience, and calling to lead his/her CCA Calling Prep Academy as he/she serves at Cornerstone Christian Academy.


 


The CPAC will provide leadership in one of the four following academies:


 


The Academy of Entrepreneurship


Guiding and empowering CCA students as they develop the “entrepreneurial spirit” within them as future Christian business innovators and leaders.


 


The STEM Academy (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)


Guiding and empowering students to experience, develop, and pursue their giftings and passions in one or more areas of STEM.


 


The Academy of the Arts


Guiding and empowering CCA students in areas of the arts including but not limited to God-honoring varied areas of artistic expression, visual arts, musical talent and interest in music-related and worship endeavors, various aspects of the performing arts (e.g., acting, directing, choreography, play and script writing, dancing), etc.   


 


The Academy of Service and Leadership


Guiding and empowering students in areas of service and leadership including but not limited to ministry and pastoral service and leadership, developing and implementing programs and initiatives that glorify God and help others, non-profit pursuits, general leadership and service development, etc.


 


Please note: All applicants will be considered, even with limited availability. 


 


Minimum Qualifications


Education


·       Bachelor’s degree or master’s required from an accredited college or university (certain educational exceptions will be considered based on experience and expertise)


Experience 


·       Two or more years of mentoring and developing young men and women with a Biblically-centered approach preferred


Certifications/Licenses


·       Certifications, licenses, and commendations in areas related to CPAC leadership valued but not required


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


·       Excellent written and oral communication skills


·       Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively and tactfully communicate with leadership, peers, faculty, students, parents, volunteers, and the external community


·       Demonstrated knowledge of subject content and methodology of effective teaching


·       Ability to assess the strengths and needs of students and to plan and implement effective intervention programs for the students


·       Conduct demonstrations and mentor teachers and staff as needed


Technologies


·       Must be skilled at technology and its applications within the school, and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint


Physical Capabilities


·       Able to stand and walk for a majority of the day; speak and hear clearly; operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment; reach with hands and arms, bend, stoop and twist; and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds


·       Able to supervise students both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions


·       Able to walk up and down stairs


Personal Characteristics


·       Affirms CCA’s Articles of Faith


·       Faithfully attends a local, Bible-believing church that has a statement of faith in agreement with CCA’s Articles of Faith


·       Is deeply committed to a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ


·       Able to recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children’s education and                  prepared to assist them in that task


·       Able to manage everyday stress with objectivity and optimism


·       Adheres to high ethical standards and exemplifies Christian behavior in attitude, speech, and actions towards others


·       Maintains a modest, professional, and clean personal appearance consistent with school policy


 


Work Hours/Travel


·       Work week is consistent with standard school schedule of Monday through Friday with occasional work in the                 evenings or on weekends for special school events and activities


·       School-related travel as necessary


Job Functions and Tasks 


Essential Functions – Educational Planning and Management


·       Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of the CP Academy he/she leads, ensuring alignment           with the overall mission and vision of the school


·       Ensure that the CP Academy he/she leads is well equipped with materials, supplies, and other needed resources


·       Ensure accuracy of all CP Academy student records


·       Implement effective student reporting and evaluation procedures for the CP Academy he/she leads


·       Recommend resources to optimize student engagement and experiences in the CP Academy he/she leads


·       Work collaboratively with school administration to acquire ACSI accreditation as it relates to the CP Academy                 he/she leads and school-wide accreditation


 


Essential Functions – Administrative Leadership and Staff Development


·       Receive direction form the CP Director in alignment with the HOS and collaborate with the CCA/CC finance             department to review annual budgets and make recommendations for his/her CP Academy needs and expenditures


·       As directed by the CP Director, supervise and annually assess CP Academy staff and recommend staff development opportunities through conferences and workshops


·       Work with the CP Director to manage CP Academy staff schedules and annual CP events calendar


·       Follow all established personnel management procedures


·       Tactfully and prayerfully counsel employees and manage employee issues in accordance with Biblical principles and with a spirit of grace


·       Conduct regular classroom/student work area visits in an effort to provide encouragement and constructive feedback to CP Academy staff and teachers


·       Identify hiring and/or volunteer needs within the CP Academy team and make recommendations to the HOS and CP Director in the recruitment and selection process


·       Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations


 


Essential Functions – Student Leadership and Parent Interaction


·       Lead by example to encourage the development of a positive Christian school culture


·       Enforce the school’s disciplinary policy, dress code, and standards of behavior


·       Demonstrate the fruit of the spirit through genuine love and care for all students


·       Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with parents by proactively engaging in regular communication, responding to parental concerns, and encouraging parental involvement in school events and activities


·       Monitor CP Academy staff correspondence with others and sit in on conferences as needed
