Camp Coordinator (Teacher)

The Teacher Camp Coordinator is responsible for the planning, implementation, and facilitation of Frost Valley YMCA’s Summer Day Camp for campers aged 4-16. This position focuses on camper safety, activity planning, and ensuring a positive camp experience. Teacher Camp Coordinator will also serve as role models for all staff and are responsible for maintaining camper records, managing behavior, and communicating with parents as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Camper Supervision and Safety: 
  • Program Planning and Preparation: Plan, prepare, and lead engaging weekly activities tailored to the interests and developmental levels of your camper group.
  • Create and update camper schedules 
  • Support campers and staff in day to day activities
• Record Keeping: 
  • Maintain accurate attendance, behavior, and daily paperwork for your assigned groups.
  • Review daily reports and summarize 
  • Review camper paperwork prior to camper’s arrival
• Role Modeling: 
  • Serve as a positive role model for Junior Counselors, Counselors, and Campers,demonstrating professionalism, empathy, and a commitment to camp values.
  • Parent Communication: Communication with families, providing friendly and informative updates as needed.
  • Lead trainings for staff throughout the session
• Safety Standards and Compliance: 
  • Support safety protocols and help maintain compliance with American Camp Association and Ulster County Board of Health standards for a day camp serving over 200 campers per session.
• Collaboration: 
  • Coordinate with multiple departments to uphold the standards and reputation of Summer Day Camp and Frost Valley YMCA.
• Additional Duties: 
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to support the camp’s mission and daily operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be a teacher with either Livingston Manor or Roscoe school
• Be a licensed teacher
• Prior experience working with children aged 4-16 or a strong interest in doing so.
• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, multitask, and handle high-energy environments.
• Enthusiasm for working with children, teens, families, and camp staff

• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. 
• The employee may be required to stand on their feet for long periods of time. 
• Employee must be able to occasionally traverse rough terrain.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Dates: 

Session 1: June 30th-July 25th

Session 2: July 28th-August 22nd 

There will be three days of precamp 2 days online and 1 in person
