Job Description - Camp Facilities Manager - Hiring Now

Job Summary:

- Camp facilities and grounds maintenance to ensure these are maintained in a safe, clean, attractive manner

- Mechanical, electrical, sewage and water systems to ensure proper and safe provision of these services to camp residents and staff

- Security of camp site to ensure the physical safety of camp residents and staff

- This is a hands-on position, and will perform job duties either personally or through subordinate staff

- Supervises and performs the maintenance of the physical plant at the camp facilities; inspects facilities to identify problems; determines most appropriate and cost-effective manner of fixing problems. Ensures facilities are maintained in compliance with US Forest Service, San Bernardino County Environmental Health Dept, and Americans With Disabilities Act requirements.

- Supervises and performs grounds maintenance including brush clearance, tree maintenance, care of lawns, fields and flower beds; ensures sprinkler systems are operational, drainage is away from facilities and pests are controlled safely; swimming pool maintenance including heating, chemical balance, and cleanliness;

- Works with Director of Facilities and Camp Director to supervises and/or performs preventive maintenance of all electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems including heating, air-conditioning, electrical services, domestic appliances, kitchen equipment; trouble shoots problems and identifies most cost[1]effective manner of resolving problems; recommends purchase of new equipment as appropriate.

- Coordinates with Director of Facilities and Camp Director and supervises improvement projects undertaken by staff and/or volunteers; plans and organizes such projects; ensures appropriate equipment, tools and materials are available; ensures projects are executed in compliance with safety protocols; provides advice and guidance as necessary.

- Addresses security needs at the camp to ensure a safe environment for consumers, staff and visitors; acts as the facility’s safety coordinator under direction of Camp Director; conducts safety audits and meetings; implements new procedures to improve safety and/or security.

- Supervises and/or performs weed abatement according to fire inspection requirements; arranges/schedules yearly services and inspections of property including fire inspections and pump testing.

- Supervises compliance with health and safety practices in accordance with local, state and accrediting organizations including maintenance of fire extinguishers and alarms in accordance with code.

- Participates in the planning, budgeting and scheduling of facilities modifications and major maintenance so that these provide the least disruption to camp programs under direction from Director of Facilities and Camp Director.

- Inspects construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established specifications and schedules.

- Supervises maintenance personnel and volunteers engaged in property maintenance, moving furniture and equipment, grounds-keeping, and other maintenance-related projects and duties.

- Performs supervisory duties including interviewing and hiring staff, assigning and reviewing progress of work assignments and projects; conducting performance reviews and recommending increases; and developing the skills of staff.

- Inspects grounds and facilities on a daily basis to identify maintenance needs; ensures staff cleans facilities as scheduled (e.g., sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing walls, dusting, etc.); inspects equipment and systems with fire and health inspectors.

- Provides for the care and well-being of the animals (e.g. horses, nature room animals.)

- Communicates policies and procedures to groups and individuals using the facilities and oversees compliance with same.

- Works cooperatively with other staff and departments to ensure smooth camp operations.

- Participates in the development of camp’s annual and construction budgets; reviews invoices for accuracy and completeness and approves payments; ensures compliance with approved budgets.

- Assumes full responsibility for the camp operation in the absence of the Camp Director.

- Ensures that all camp vehicles, including trailers, tractors, golf carts, etc., are in always working order.
