Camp Lead Counselor

J Camp Lead Counselors help mentor staff to become the best they can be. J Camp Lead Counselors are responsible for ensuring a fun, safe, and positive experience for their designated group of campers. Position pays $18.00 - $19.00 per hour depending on experience.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Assume responsibilities for a group of campers under their care to ensure a positive and safe camp experience. 
• Actively participate in and supervise activities during J Camp, including the pool. 
• Plan and lead camp activities. 
• Ensure that the spaces used for J Camp are cleaned before leaving. 
• Support counselors in learning new skills, including but not limited to behavior management, activity planning and rule enforcement.  
• Support the emotional and social wellbeing of the kids through positive behavior management, supportive interactions and conflict resolution. 
• Supervise campers during field trips, including while on the bus. 
• Communicate regularly and appropriately with the rest of the J Camp staff team, both verbally and in writing. 
• Ensure children get to where they need to go as directed by the J Camp leadership team. 
• Act as a positive ambassador of the SJCC both inside and outside of the SJCC 
• Follow all emergency procedures at the SJCC. 
• Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines or scheduling needs.  
• Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

 To be successful as a Camp Lead Counselor you should have:

•  A current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification for adults/infants/children through an approved certifying body. (or willing to become certified)
• Experience and/or training working with children.
• Openness to learning
