Located in Mount Dora, FL—just 35 minutes from Orlando—Mount Dora Christian Academy & Children’s Home (MDCA & CH) is a Christ-centered institution affiliated with the churches of Christ. With a strong Christian heritage, we serve as both a ministry and a mission field, offering opportunities to introduce students to Jesus and nurture their faith. Our campus serves 900 students from VPK through 12th grade, and we are committed to integrating Christ into every aspect of student life, from the classroom and choir hall to the athletic field and beyond.

We are seeking a devoted follower of Jesus who is energetic, passionate about ministry, skilled in worship leadership, and has a “can-do” spirit to serve as our Campus Minister/Vice President for Spiritual Life.

Position Overview
The Campus Minister/Vice President for Spiritual Life is responsible for leading the spiritual life of both the Academy and Children’s Home under the direction of the President. This role oversees Christian ministries, pastoral care, crisis response, and spiritual development programs. The Campus Minister fosters collaboration across campus to ensure a unified spiritual mission.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong faith-based relationships with students, faculty, and staff
  • Plan, lead, and facilitate multiple daily chapel programs
  • Mentor and develop student volunteers to foster spiritual growth across campus
  • Oversee weekly campuswide worship nights and devotionals
  • Supervise a chaplain program to support students in the arts and athletics
  • Organize and lead spiritual life programs, training sessions, and retreats
  • Provide pastoral care and ministry to the MDCA&CH community
  • Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team for crisis situations
  • Coordinate faith-based responses to significant campus events (e.g., memorials, prayer services)
  • Serve on the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), attending meetings and collaborating with development  staff to support spiritual life initiatives
  • Engage with donors interested in supporting spiritual life programs
  • Participate in professional development, conferences, and community events
  • Assess and evaluate spiritual life programs, ensuring continuous improvement
  • Preach or teach occasionally at churches as a representative of MDCA&CH
  • Attend and support campus events and activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Model and uphold MDCA&CH’s mission, values, and Statement of Faith in all aspects of work and life

Requirements

 

Skills & Qualifications

Required:

  • Active member of a local Church of Christ
  • Ability to plan and lead biblically-centered, acapella worship
  • Passion for and experience in pastoral care, especially in times of crisis
  • Strong teaching, preaching, and ministry skills for engaging students and the broader community
  • Mature understanding of Christian spirituality and spiritual formation
  • Ability to integrate Christian faith with student development principles
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Professional demeanor with a strong sense of confidentiality
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access) and Google Suite (Docs, Drive, Sheets, Forms, etc.)

Strongly Preferred:

  • Degree in Bible, theology, or ministry
  • Previous ministry experience

Preferred:

  • Experience with IT coordination for worship services (microphones, slide decks, videos)

Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity and an ability to work effectively with individuals from various backgrounds.
