Capability Developer Lasers, Aiming Lights, and Range Finding Devices - (C) Firepower

Job Overview:

This role supports development and integration of advanced optics, laser aiming systems, and range finding devices into the Army’s small arms and crew-served weapons portfolio. The capability developer ensures technical and doctrinal alignment with operational requirements and provides support across acquisition, testing, and fielding.

Support Hours: Core duty hours are Monday through Friday, 0800–1700 Eastern Time, excluding federal holidays.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Serve as SME for lasers, aiming lights, and range finding devices.
• Coordinate with PMs, testers, and trainers to ensure system viability and integration.
• Draft and revise JCIDS documents such as CDDs, CDD-Us, and CONOPS.
• Participate in evaluations, configuration control boards, and capability briefings.
• Support test events, doctrine development, and fielding plans.
• Represent the End User at technical forums and user juries.

Competencies:

• In-depth knowledge of laser optics, ballistics, and fire control integration.
• Understanding of JCIDS and acquisition lifecycle requirements.
• Ability to assess operational utility and performance of aiming systems.
• Experience engaging with acquisition, testing, and training stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical military training.
• 5+ years of experience in optics, lasers, or weapons integration roles.
• Must have completed the Combat Developers Course (CDC). 
• Familiarity with acquisition and capability development processes.
• Proven ability to contribute to formal Army requirements documentation.
