Job Description - Captain

Yacht Captain – Private Vessel (Caribbean-Based)

Location: Dominican Republic (Home Port: Marina Casa de Campo, La Romana)
Start Date: October 2025
Contract: Permanent Position
Salary: Competitive, based on experience and market standards

A distinguished private owner is seeking an experienced Yacht Captain to command a motor yacht based in the Caribbean, primarily operating between the Virgin Islands (Dec–Jun) and the Dominican Republic (Jun–Dec).

The ideal candidate is professional, versatile, and able to manage a multicultural crew aboard a RINA-classed vessel currently undergoing a full aesthetic and systems refit.

The owners are an elderly Latin-American couple (84 and 80 years old), often hosting guests of similar age.

Professional demeanor, respect for roles and people, and adaptability are essential.

The crew is expected to maintain a collaborative spirit beyond rigid job titles.




Requirements

  • Experience: Proven navigation in the Caribbean (St. Maarten, St. Barth, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic)

  • Language Skills: Fluent in at least one of the following – English or Spanish

  • Health: Good physical condition; non-smoker, no alcohol consumption onboard

  • Technical Skills: Strong mechanical and administrative management abilities

  • Leadership: Capable of managing an international crew:

    • Local sailor

    • South African stewardess

    • Italian chef

    • English-speaking deckhand

  • Residency: Willing to live in the Dominican Republic (with regular vacation periods)

  • License - Yachtmaster offshore - 200GT
