Job Description - Cardiothoracic Surgeon

• Call Schedule: 24-hr Call

• Call Type: Beeper

• Call Response Time: 30 mins

• Call Ratio: 1:2

• Call-back %: Variable

• Phone Consults: 4-5

• Patient Volume: 4-5 or varies

• Admissions: 4-5

• Rounding Included: Yes

• Support Staff: 3 NP/PAs, 1 MA, 1 Office Staff

• Required Procedures:

- General CV/thoracic surgery, Coronary artery bypass surgery, Congenital defects (ASD, VSD, PFO, etc.), Valvular repair, Aneurysm repair.

- Lung resection (including VATs), Chest wall or pleural procedures, Esophagus and diaphragm surgeries.

- AICD (Automatic Internal Cardiac Defibrillator), Left ventricular assist devices, TAVR, CABG, Vent Mgmt, Bronchoscopy.

- Eval. And mgmt of acute vol/BP issues

- Insertion of Central line, Arterial line & PA catheter & IABP.

• Trauma Level: II

• Beds in the Dept: 167

• EMR: Epic

• Other Info: There is a separate Vascular service that covers Vascular patient needs.

• Temporary Privileges available: Yes

• Mileage reimbursement and malpractice insurance covered

Requirements:

• Active MN License or IMLC

• BC/BE

• ACLS, ATLS

• Fellowship
