Job Description - CareCom Clinical Expediter

The Clinical Expediter plays a critical role in improving patient access, throughput, and quality of care by applying advanced clinical expertise, organizational awareness, leadership, and critical thinking skills. The primary focus of this role is the latter half of the care progression continuum, concentrating on identifying and resolving delays in care and discharge barriers to enhance patient experience and hospital capacity. 

 

The Clinical Expediter utilizes realtime and predictive information within CareComm platforms to monitor, triage, and address alerts related to care progression, discharge planning, and patient pathways. Working in close partnership with CareComm leadership and local care teams, the Expediter investigates alerts using the electronic medical record and interdisciplinary collaboration, determines appropriate resolution strategies, and supports timely execution of actions that improve patient flow. All duties are performed in alignment with Tampa General Hospital’s mission, vision, values, quality standards, and service excellence expectations.

 

Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of acute care processes, discharge planning, care coordination, and clinical pathways necessary to identify and resolve delays in care.

  • Understanding of hospital capacity management, lengthofstay drivers, and patient flow strategies to optimize bed utilization and throughput.

  • Ability to interpret alerts, trends, and predictive data from CareComm tiles, dashboards, and the electronic medical record to guide proactive interventions.

  • Ability to analyze complex clinical and operational situations, identify root causes of delays, and implement effective, patientspecific solutions.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with care teams, providers, Bed Control, and CareComm leadership to coordinate resolution of delays and barriers.

  • Ability to build relationships, influence care teams, negotiate solutions, and lead improvement efforts without direct authority.

     


  • Registered Nurse licensed in the state of Florida
  • Five (5) years of experience in Nursing related area of practice required. 
  • MS Office skills required and ability to innovate, problem solve, build relationships, and negotiate is required.
