Career Development Facilitator

Job Type: Full-time

Essential Job Functions:

• Counsel and interview participants to obtain information about employment history, educational background and career goals to help them understand and overcome barriers. Assess needs for assistance, rehabilitation, financial aid, or additional vocational training, and refer participants to appropriate services.


• Makes referrals to outside agencies as necessary. 


• Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required by Goodwill.


• Teach classes and present self help or information sessions on subject related to education and career planning. Prepare students for later educational experiences by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks.


• Prepares and maintains accurate, and organized records, including timely input of information in designated case management/reporting systems.


• Develops relationships with community partners who can be utilized as guest speakers for topics to include self-esteem, drug/alcohol prevention/abuse, social media, cultural diversity, financial empowerment, career pathways, post-secondary education exploration, etc.


• Plan and promote career and employment-related programs and events, such as career planning presentations, work experience programs, job fairs, and career workshops


• Providing holistic services that includes one on one case management as well as in class instruction to support a diverse population.


• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Demonstrated analytical capability and understanding.


• Must possess versatility, discretion and good interpersonal skills with ability to work with a variety of diverse people, providing excellent customer service.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


• Must maintain participant confidentiality and follow the Code of Ethics.


• Must be able to plan and develop workflow with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment.


• Must be able to work a flexible schedule which could include evenings and weekends to accommodate programming requirements and needs of participants.


• Must have reliable transportation, proof of insurance, a valid driver’s license in the state of residence, and a driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance provider.

Education/Specialized Knowledge Requirements: 

• Bachelor's degree preferred, major in Counseling, Social Work, Education, Facilitation, or Training or similar field; or years of experience in lieu of degree. 


• Previous work experience with individuals with barriers to employment a plus.


• Must have proficient verbal and written skills appropriate for a professional environment and the ability to present information in a dynamic way. 


• Previous case management or related experience, preferred. 


• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) with ability to use Salesforce and computer software programs and/or other applications.

Physical and Work Condition Requirements: 

• This job may have physical requirements that considered sedentary work. Sedentary work involves sitting for long periods of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing, and visual acuity and occasional lifting up to 15 pounds. 


• Travel across to other locations beyond the assigned work location is occasionally required.
