Caregiver

Needed: ASAP pay and shift length negotiable 
Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 4 hours per day (20 hours/week)
Compensation: 25-30 an hr 

Overview:
We are seeking a reliable, compassionate, and culturally compatible caregiver to support our mother, a highly independent and capable elderly woman who lives on her own. She does not require assistance with personal care (showering, dressing, bathroom), but benefits from daily help with meals, household chores, errands, light exercise, and companionship.

Key Responsibilities:

• Meal Preparation & Cleanup:

  • Prepare a full lunch and light dinner (usually dinner is prepped and only requires reheating).

  • Chinese cooking preferred.

  • Clean up the kitchen and dining area after meals.

• Light Housekeeping:

  • Wash dishes, assist with laundry, and keep bathroom and common areas tidy.

• Grocery Shopping:

  • Shop with or for her—often stopping by a local market on the way in.

• Medication Assistance:

  • Organize a two-week day/night pillbox and remind her to take her medications daily.

• Encouraging Daily Exercise:

  • Accompany her on short walks around the neighborhood, into town, or to the store.

• General Companionship & Engagement:

  • Spend time with her, keep her socially engaged, and provide cultural connection and warmth.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Speaks Mandarin (strongly preferred)

• Familiar with Chinese culture and traditional values in elder care

• Experience with elder care, household management, or personal assisting

• Dependable and communicative – punctuality and consistency are essential

• Friendly, patient, and respectful demeanor

• Ability to cook simple Chinese meals is a major plus

Important Note:
We have previously struggled to find the right fit through agencies and platforms. Many caregivers were unreliable, inconsistent, or incompatible culturally. Our most successful caregiver stayed with us for over a year—she was Mandarin-speaking and deeply understood the cultural nuances of caring for an elderly Chinese woman. We are looking to replicate that successful match.
