Job Description - Caregiver (Infant & Toddler)

Rooftop of Virginia CAP





Position:   Caregiver                                                                                                                                    
Duration: Fulltime – 12 Months                                                                                                          
Supervised By: Education Manager                                                                                                         


 



  1. OBJECTIVE:



Creates and manages an attractive, warm and challenging learning environment for infants and toddlers, incorporating appropriate early intervention, learning and care activities which meet the needs of the group as well as those of individual children and families.




  1. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:


  2. Active nurturing supervision of children in the classroom.

  3. Utilize curriculum to fidelity to teach children and keep them actively entertained.

    1. Curriculum Implementation

    2. Teacher Practices

      • Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS)

      • Fidelity Tool



    3. Learning Platform

      • Infant Toddler Environmental Rating Scale (ITERS)



    4. Ability to input accurate data.

      1. Ages & Stages Social Emotion & Developmental (ASQ’s)

      2. Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP)

        • Lesson Plans, Observations, Child Developmental Profiles, etc.



      3. Utilize program and agency data management systems

        • Attendance, Meals, Contacts, Daily Health Checks, etc.



      4. Must be able to work closely together with other classroom staff to provide direct supervision of children.

        1. Manage schedules amongst one another to ensure coverage

        2. Supporting knowledge of Early Learning Outcomes Frameworks, School Readiness Goals, Program Goals/Policies



      5. Performing duties requested by Supervisor, Head Start Director, COO, and CEO.

  9. Ability to complete weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports.

    1. Daily – Attendance, Meals, Observations, etc.

    2. Weekly – Lesson Plans

    3. Biweekly - Timesheets

    4. Monthly – Meal Reports

    5. Quarterly – Conference Forms, Staffing

    6. Yearly – 2x per year – CLASS



  10. Health and Safety

  11. Ability to squat, sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, hear, see, speak, and lift and/or carry at least 40lbs.

  12. Knowingness of possibility to exposure of blood, bodily fluids, or tissues

  13. Knowingness of possibility to exposure of communicable diseases

  14. Technology

  15. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) proficient.

  16. Willingness to train in program and agency data management systems

  17. Professionalism

  18. Ability to casually present oneself.

  19. Accountability – Timely, Attendance

  20. Team Oriented

  21. Possess problem solving skills.

  22. Continue to expand knowledge by attending trainings, etc.




  1. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  2. 45 CFR §1302.91(e)(1) “As prescribed in section 645A(h) of the Act, a program must ensure center-based
    teachers that provide direct services to infants and toddlers…have: A minimum of a Child Development 
          Associate (CDA)…or comparable credential**; and been trained or have equivalent coursework in early
          childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development.

  3. Willingness to complete/continue trainings/certifications
    -      Any other trainings/certifications deemed necessary. Must maintain certain certifications.

  4. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


Comply with all background checks required by the program.


Valid Virginia Driver’s Licenses may be required
