Cargo Claims Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participate actively in the intake, assignment, and follow-up of cargo claims, ensuring each claim is managed efficiently and professionally. Armstrong utilizes MyEzClaim as its primary claims handling software; the ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately entering and tracking claims within this system and should demonstrate confidence and proficiency in using such technology. In addition, the candidate will be required to utilize Armstrong’s Transportation Management System (TMS) as part of the claims process and must be adept at learning and navigating new systems.


• Review and respond promptly to emails regarding damaged and rejected (TL and LTL) loads, maintaining clear and courteous communication with all parties.


• Organize and request necessary documentation for assigned cargo claims by coordinating with Armstrong’s agents, customers, carriers, freight forwarders, and other transportation providers.


• Negotiate claim settlements with Armstrong customers and consignees, striving for fair and timely resolutions.


• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of various cargo insurance policies relevant to the transportation industry and effectively navigate the nuances of the claims process.


• Participate in the salvage process for a variety of cargo claims, including locating salvage companies, supervising settlements, and following up on payment.


• Provide comprehensive and timely claim updates to customers, Armstrong agents, and other affected parties, ensuring transparency and support throughout the process.


• Clearly explain the cargo claims process to individuals who require guidance, helping them understand whether a situation may result in a claim.


• Monitor deadlines and ensure strict compliance with company policies and industry procedures.


• Respond to motor carrier factor company email requests regarding vendor holds due to claims, ensuring all communications are handled with professionalism and accuracy.


• Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the Claims and Legal Department, based on your skills and interests.

Qualifications:

• Relevant work experience in the transportation industry is highly valued and preferred over formal education; a BS or Associate’s degree in Business Administration or a related field is a plus but not required.


• CCPAC (Certified Claims Professional Accreditation Counsel) certification is preferred but not mandatory.


• Strong customer service orientation and effective negotiation skills.


• Ability to manage fluctuating workloads, remain self-motivated, and adapt to changing priorities.


• Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in all tasks.


• Proven ability to juggle multiple activities and perform well under pressure.
