CARPENTER

Reports to: Reports to Superintendent

Responsibilities: Completed an apprenticeship and has obtained a full compliment of tools (per attached list) and knowledge of their use.

Functions:

• Wood construction A to Z.
• Install millwork.
• Scheduling of other trades.
• Knowledge of building codes.
• Use carpenter's square.
• Finish and trim work.
• Shoot, line and grade.
• Detailed formwork.
• Layout.
• Install jambs, doors and hardware.
• Read blueprints.
• Metal stud work and gypsum wall board.
• Will perform the above functions and other related duties.
• Have a general knowledge of other trades such as roofing, masonry, etc.
• Ensure that tools and equipment are properly cleaned, stores, and maintained for optimum performance and safety.

Requirements:

• Thorough understanding of the correct and safe operation of all related tools and equipment.

• All carpenters should have license for powder actuated tools.

• Work within precise standards of accuracy; rate information using standards which can be measured or checked; compare and see differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects; look at flat drawings or pictures and understand how they would look as solid objects.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Follow oral and written directions, plans and blueprints.

• Completion of apprenticeship program required.

• Actively support; enforce Safety Policies.

Physical Requirements: Workers must be able to: see well (either naturally or with correction); coordinate the movements of eyes, hands and fingers; use hands, arms and fingers fully; climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at heights as required; and list and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.

Education and experience: High School diploma or equivalent and completion of formal apprenticeship program or equivalent training and experience.

(1) Ariation snips - left and rights and all tools to be kept sharp and useable at all times.

Power tools to be furnished by firm.
