Job Purpose
The Carpenter is a key member of Lacasa’s Real Estate Development team, responsible for delivering high-quality craftsmanship across a range of residential construction and rehabilitation projects. This role encompasses carpentry and finish work including framing, roofing, siding, trim installation, painting, drywall finishing, cleaning and basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC tasks. The Carpenter works alongside staff and volunteers to complete new construction and renovation projects on homes for purchase, multifamily properties, and agency-owned residences.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Project Execution
- Perform a broad range of carpentry tasks including but not limited to framing, drywall installation, trim work, roofing, siding, door/window installation, flooring, insulation, and cabinetry.
- Have experience and ability to complete finishes typical of a residential remodeling projects such as painting, drywall finishing, and cleaning.
- Assist with basic plumbing, HVAC, and electrical tasks as needed to support project completion.
- Follow construction drawings, blueprints, and instructions from supervisors to ensure accurate execution of project plans.
- Ensure all work meets applicable building codes, safety standards, and quality expectations.
- Prepare and maintain clean, safe, and organized work sites. Follow all safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries, ensuring job sites are secure at the end of each workday.
Tool and Equipment
- Safely operate and maintain construction tools and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, ladders, and lifts.
- Monitor tool inventory, report any missing or damaged equipment, and ensure tools are properly stored and maintained.
- Assess material needs, purchase approved supplies within budget guidelines, and document all expenses per company procedures.
- Accurately measure, cut, and assemble materials using appropriate methods to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
Collaboration and Volunteer Engagement
- Work collaboratively with internal team members, subcontractors, and volunteers to complete construction and renovation projects.
- Supervise and train volunteer crews to perform basic construction tasks safely and effectively. Provide clear instructions and ensure volunteers have a positive, purposeful experience aligned with Lacasa’s mission.
Documentation and Reporting
- Accurately record hours worked, tasks completed, materials used, and project progress.
- Submit daily or weekly reports as required by supervisor to track progress and address any project delays or concerns.
Other Duties
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and organizational events including Lacasa’s Annual Meeting.
- Represent Lacasa professionally in all interactions with homeowners, residents, community partners, and volunteers.
- Participate in ongoing training and development activities as required to maintain job skills and certifications.
Hours and Salary Range
Pay Range: $19-$21/hour based on experience.
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday with some flexibility required for Saturday work with volunteers.
Mileage: Mileage reimbursement provided.
Qualifications
Education
A combination of acceptable education and experience that has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position may be considered, which included exercise of initiative, attention to detail, and independent judgment.
Experience
Minimum of one-year professional experience in construction, carpentry, roofing, siding, and basic electrical, plumbing, and heating.

Working Conditions
- Physical ability to perform manual labor for 8 hours per day, including lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, working on roofs and scaffolds, and navigating confined spaces like attics and crawl spaces
- Ability to work productively in various weather conditions and terrains
- Must provide a reliable personal vehicle suitable for transporting tools and materials, and maintain a valid driver’s license and current vehicle insurance
- Must provide basic hand tools
- Must supply a personal cell phone; Lacasa offers a monthly stipend to offset related expenses
Benefits*
- Health Insurance: Coverage begins on the date of hire. For persons electing it, Lacas will pay a percentage of the premium and also contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA).

- Holidays: 9 paid holidays per year
- Vacation: Begins accruing the first full pay period of employment.
- The first year of employment you earn 80 hours/two weeks.
- Years 2 and 3 of service, you earn 120 hours/3 weeks per year.
- Year 4+ of service, you earn 160 hours/4 weeks per year.
- Sick Time: The first year of employment you earn 40 hours.
- 20 hours are provided at the onset of employment.
- The reminder 20 hours begins accruing the first full pay period of employment
- Year 2 and thereafter, continues accruing at the rate of 40 hours per year.
- Life Insurance: Equivalent to your annual salary rounded to the nearest one thousand. Eligible on the first month following 30 days of service
- 403b Retirement Plan: 3% of your salary, beginning at the completion of 90 days of employment. In addition, beginning with the second year of employment, Lacasa will match voluntary contributions of regular full-time employees on the following schedule:
- At the completion of year 1 – up to 1% of gross earnings
- At the completion of year 2 – up to 2% of gross earnings
- At the completion of year 3 – up to 3% of gross earnings
- At the completion of year 4 – up to 4% of gross earnings
