Carpenter Foreman

This role requires expertise in reading and interpreting construction plans, coordinating manpower and project schedules, and overseeing installations including retail fixtures, millwork, cabinetry, shelving, drywall, and finish carpentry. Position Summary

The Carpenter Foreman is responsible for leading field crews and overseeing commercial retail construction and installation projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to quality standards. This hands-on role requires strong carpentry knowledge, the ability to read and interpret construction plans, and experience coordinating crews, layouts, and installations in retail environments. The position requires frequent travel and the ability to work primarily night shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise field crews while maintaining productivity, safety, and quality standards.


• Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications to perform layouts and installations.


• Coordinate manpower, schedules, and project activities with Project Managers and General Contractors.


• Monitor project progress and ensure work is completed on time and within company standards.


• Maintain quality control and resolve field issues in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on carpentry experience in commercial or retail construction.


• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Foreman, Lead Carpenter, or supervisory role managing field crews.


• Available to work approximately 90% night shifts.


• Willing and able to travel as required.


• Minimum experience in one or more of the following:
  
  
  
  • Commercial retail carpentry
  
  
  • Metal or wood framing
  
  
  • Drywall installation, taping, and finishing
  
  
  
  


• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.


• Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.


• Must provide own hand tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience performing millwork and finish installations in large retail environments.


• Previous work experience in major retail chains such as Walmart, Safeway, Foodland, Whole Foods, Longs, or other big-box retail establishments.


• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
