Carpentry Instructor

Assist in shaping the next generation of carpenters and help them develop the skills needed to excel in their careers.

As a Carpentry Instructor in our accelerated vocational, pre-apprentice program, you will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction to students on the fundamentals of carpentry. We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual who is passionate about teaching and has a deep understanding of carpentry.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver lesson plans developed and approved by IKO Regional Council of Carpenters that cover the fundamentals of carpentry, including safety procedures, tool usage, and construction techniques.
• Provide hands-on instruction and demonstration to students in a variety of carpentry techniques, including proper use of power tools, framing and drywalling, scaffolding, formwork, roofing, and finishing work.
• Evaluate student progress and provide feedback on their performance, including grading assignments and exams.
• Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment, ensuring that all tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
• Collaborate with other instructors and staff to continuously improve the curriculum and instructional materials.

- Minimum of 3 years carpentry experience in the industry

- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and safety procedures

- Physical capabilities to model techniques and work along side of students

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students of all levels

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
