It's fun to work in a company where people truly BELIEVE in what they're doing!

We're committed to bringing passion and customer focus to the business.

Logistics Division | Full-Time | Benefits Eligible

FHI is seeking a Carrier Development Manager to join our Logistics division. This role is responsible for recruiting, vetting, and managing relationships with third-party carriers to help build a reliable, compliant, and cost-effective freight network. The Carrier Development Manager plays a key role in ensuring profitable, on-time load coverage while supporting strong service for our customers and stakeholders.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position in a remote office environment, with required in-office visits bi-monthly and for quarterly events.

What You’ll Do

As a Carrier Development Manager, you will support daily freight coverage needs while developing a strong carrier network that can serve the business across changing market conditions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Identify, recruit, and build partnerships with high-potential carriers to expand freight capacity.
  • Work closely with Customer Service to understand lane coverage needs and cover available loads.
  • Guide carriers through onboarding, safety vetting, insurance verification, and authority documentation.
  • Negotiate rates, contracts, and service agreements with carriers and clients to support profitability and compliance.
  • Monitor market trends in logistics, supply chain management, freight pricing, and carrier capacity.
  • Build and maintain long-term carrier relationships that support consistent service and carrier loyalty.
  • Track carrier performance and address opportunities for improvement.
  • Support a reliable, compliant, and cost-effective freight network.

This job posting is not intended to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities. Responsibilities may change at any time based on business needs.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is organized, service-minded, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced logistics environment. This person takes ownership, follows through, and brings a continuous improvement mindset to their work.

A successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
  • Ownership of assignments with a willingness to go the extra mile.
  • A positive attitude and team-oriented approach.
  • Professional communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • High level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Strong interest in professional growth and continued success.
  • A service-minded approach to supporting customers, carriers, and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Experience in truckload transportation logistics required.
  • 3+ years of experience in freight brokerage, dispatch, or truckload operations preferred.
  • Strong understanding of DOT/FMCSA regulations.

Education

We believe skills and experience are what truly matter. While education can be a valuable asset, it is not a requirement for success in this role.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Teams, and Word.
  • Strong Excel skills, including spreadsheet development and analysis.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to give and receive feedback professionally.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to change.
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team environment.
  • Process-oriented mindset.
  • Comfort using technology and learning new tools.
  • Willingness to continue growing skills and knowledge.

Physical Requirements

  • Remote office environment with required in-office visits bi-monthly and for quarterly events.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time with limited physical exertion.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment in a typical office environment.
  • Ability to use close and distance vision to focus on a computer screen for the majority of the workday.

Why Join FHI?

At FHI, we believe in serving with purpose, building strong relationships, and continuously improving the way we work. This role is an opportunity to make a direct impact on our logistics network by strengthening carrier partnerships, supporting customer needs, and helping drive reliable freight solutions.
