Job Description - Carrier Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated Carrier Operations Specialist to support our Carrier Sales team in executing and managing freight operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring every load is set up for success through strong communication, carrier verification, and proactive problem-solving.

You will work closely with Carrier Sales Representatives, carriers, and internal teams to drive efficiency, maintain relationships, and ensure seamless load execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Load Execution & Carrier Verification

Verify all carriers and drivers prior to dispatch to ensure load success

Confirm driver details including name, phone number, truck/trailer information, and location

Ensure all carriers are properly set up and compliant with tracking requirements (e.g., Macropoint)

Validate driver expectations for pickup, transit updates, and delivery milestones

Achieve 100% order and carrier verification for assigned loads

Communication & Coordination

Proactively communicate with drivers prior to pickup to confirm load details

Serve as a key point of contact between carriers, Carrier Sales, and Account Management

Ensure carriers have received and acknowledged rate confirmations

Maintain accurate and timely updates in internal systems

Issue Resolution & Escalation

Manage and resolve issues at the lowest level possible

Communicate and escalate load-related challenges when necessary

Identify and address sub-par carrier performance

Carrier Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, dispatchers, and drivers

Negotiate accessorial charges and support cost control initiatives

Develop a network of reliable carriers to support ongoing operations

Load Booking Support

Assist Carrier Sales Representatives with booking loads

Source and communicate carrier options

Negotiate competitive rates and contribute to cost-saving initiatives

Utilize internal and external tools to identify capacity and optimize pricing

Performance Expectations (KPIs):

Meet daily call activity goals

Maintain 100% carrier and order verification compliance

Ensure consistent tracking and load visibility (MacroPoint compliance)

Qualifications

Experience in logistics, transportation, or freight brokerage preferred

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

Comfortable working with KPIs and performance metrics

Proactive problem-solver with a sense of urgency
