ABOUT NWRC


Northwest Regional Council (NWRC) is a multi-service agency that covers the Washington counties of Island, San Juan, Skagit and Whatcom, with offices in Bellingham and Mount Vernon, Washington.  NWRC’s slogan: “Human services with you at the center” encapsulates its focus on creating new solutions to navigate the challenges of aging and disability, proactive paths to behavioral health and recovery, and new partnerships between healthcare and social services. We are seeking applicants for a Case Aide to join our Program Administrative Support team.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT UNIT


The Business Development unit impacts agency-wide operations by supporting and growing various programs. The unit is comprised of program administrative and operational support, and contracts management.


 


A DAY IN THE LIFE 


Case Aides provide program support to Care Management, Clinical, and Community program units by assisting supervisory and field staff, as well as subcontractors in elements of service delivery. Often working in computerized databases and systems used in direct service programs, the Case Aide completes data entry, develops and maintains reports, and provides information and technical assistance. 


 


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS


10-Step pay range: $24.03-$31.36 hourly


NWRC salary ranges are comprised of a 10-Step scale. On their employment anniversary, employees are eligible for an annual pay increase to the next step in the associated salary range, subject to satisfactory performance. In addition to the annual pay increases, NWRC assesses cost of living adjustments (COLA) on an annual basis, subject to Governing Board approval. New employees at NWRC usually start at the first step in the position’s assigned salary range. NWRC may consider a higher step when evaluating the candidate’s experience, training, or proven capability. Internal equity will be reviewed and prioritized when determining a starting pay rate.


 


As a full-time, permanent, non-exempt role, this position is eligible for the following benefits:

SCHEDULE & LOCATION
NWRC strives to offer employees schedule flexibility while balancing the needs of their role within the agency with their personal lives. The Case Aide can be based in either the Bellingham or Mount Vernon NWRC office. This role will work with the Program Administrative Support Supervisor to develop a schedule that includes regular, in person time in the office as well as optional remote days. It's anticipated that more time will be spent at the Bellingham office during the first 6 months of employment for training purposes. 



QUALIFICATIONS:



Education/Experience: 



  • Two years of college level courses in a relevant field; AND three years’ experience in social services and/or in a support staff function; OR

  • Bachelor's Degree in social services or related field; AND one year of experience in social services and/or in a support staff function; OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience, totaling five years, which provides the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the work.

  • Experience working in human services setting preferred.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Knowledge of general office principles, practices and procedures.

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and utilize software programs such as Microsoft Suite

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats.

  • Ability to compose documents with knowledge of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

  • Ability to work independently, including organizing and prioritizing assignments, drafting routine correspondence, trouble shooting and problem solving.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of client, provider, and staff information.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and professional boundaries with co-workers, other agency personnel, and the general public using courtesy, tact and good judgment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, showing sensitivity and respect of the values that are present in working with a diverse group of people.

  • Ability to maintain composure during difficult situations and while interacting with challenging individuals, particularly when explaining program policies and procedures, including the ability to ask for assistance as situations may warrant.

  • Skill and/or fluency in speaking other languages is desired.



 Licenses/Certificates/Special Requirements:



  • Must have a valid driver's license, a vehicle available for work-related travel, and appropriate liability insurance.

  • May be required to obtain Notary License, within first year of employment.
