Cashier 

Starting at $15.45 an hour

Available Schedule (Subject to Change):

  • Full time / 6am-2pm
  • Weekdays and Weekends Vary / schedule provided 2 weeks in advance

Position Summary: 

Under the supervision of the Retail Manager, is responsible for providing high quality, friendly service, processing sales quickly, accurately and efficiently, cash register operations and safeguarding company assets.

Brief Overview of Major Duties (please see below for full job description):

  • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other aspects of customer service. 
  • Maintain an awareness of all promotions and advertisements to disseminate to residents, guests and staff. 
  • Understand all components of Residents Choice and Dining Dollars program and accurately identify reimbursable transactions. 
  • Count money in cash drawer at beginning of shift to ensure a correct beginning balance. 
  • Accurately and efficiently ring sales on registers and accurately maintain all cash.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits or change due to customer. 
  • Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, or vouchers. 
  • Calculate total payments received during shift, and reconcile this with total sales. 
  • Prepare and serve coffees, teas, specialty beverages per brand standards. Serve food items in line with location standards.
  • Accept requests for take-out orders and bag, box, wrap and prepare packages for take away items. Handling of some food, garnishment of plates, etc.
  • Maintain orderly and clean appearance of register and condiments areas and stocks supplies daily. 
  • Stock shelves, and mark prices on shelves and items.
  • Keeps the Food Service Management Team promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.
  • Assist in maintaining par levels and inventory of all stocked items.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities: 

Able to process information/merchandise through Point of Sale register system. 

Able to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation 

Must have working knowledge of basic math applications and computation skills. 

Has knowledge of Maricopa County food regulations and sanitation requirements.

Is organized, able to multi-task, think creatively and adapt to different situations. 

Must be able to complete training on computer and/or other devices.

Maintain competency in the position and knowledge of trade/industry advances and new technologies.

Must be able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of staff, residents, and guests. 

Education and Experience:

Preferably has a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience with handling cash. 

Licenses and Certifications: 

Obtains a Maricopa County food handler’s card within 30 days of employment. 

Physical Requirements:

Is able to carry/lift/push/pull up to 30 pounds 

May need to operate a fire extinguisher.

Is able to assist in evacuation procedures.

Ensures organizational and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines, as well as federal, state, and local regulations are met and followed.

Assists in maintaining a safe, neat, and clean environment. Reports all deficiencies to the appropriate person, such as equipment problems, need for repair or special needs of residents.

Performs all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures without causing harm or risk to self, others or property.

Has ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.

Consistently complies with Arizona State Department of Health Service standards. Ensures the safe and proper handling of all food items according to HACCP. Adheres to safety practices and procedures.

Attends and participates in training activities, meetings, and seminars as required.
