SUMMARY: The cataloguer is responsible for the in-depth evaluation and accurate description of fine timepieces, including antique pocket watches, vintage wristwatches, and high-end modern watches. We are looking for ambitious, detail-oriented candidates with strong business ethics, a passion for horology, and excellent organizational skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct detailed assessments of vintage and modern wristwatches, including:
   
  • Evaluating overall condition
     
  • Opening all types of watch cases properly
     
  • Removing and installing watch bracelets
     
  • Determining the originality of dials and other components
     
• Create accurate, engaging, and grammatically correct catalog descriptions
   
• Research and verify production details, technical specifications (movements, case materials, model variations, production dates)
   
• Assist prospective bidders with inquiries regarding lots
   
• Review watch images for catalog accuracy and presentation
   
• Travel for auctions may be required
   
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 5+ years of experience as a watch dealer or within a major auction house specializing in fine timepieces
• Experience with antique pocket watches is a plus

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Strong knowledge of horological terminology and watch construction
• Excellent grammar, writing, and typing skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to multitask with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Customer-service oriented with a positive attitude
• Strong communication and public speaking skills are a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative team setting
