Ready to grow your technical skills and build a career in data center operations? Oracle’s Catalyst Velocity program is designed for individuals with a foundation in technology, technical operations, or related experience who are ready to take the next step.

Catalyst Velocity is a 12-week paid work and training program that prepares participants for a career in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) data center operations. Through hands-on experience, technical training, mentorship, and career development, participants will strengthen the skills needed to succeed as a Data Center Technician.

The goal of the program is for trainees to transition into permanent, full-time Data Center Technician positions upon successful completion of the program, based on available opportunities and applicable employment requirements.

Responsibilities

What you’ll learn

• During the program, you'll receive hands-on training while working alongside experienced technicians.

• You'll develop foundational knowledge in server hardware, data center operations, networking fundamentals, Linux, cloud infrastructure, safety and operational best practices, troubleshooting methodologies, and inventory and logistics operations.

• You'll also receive coaching, mentorship, and opportunities to continue developing your technical and professional skills throughout the program.

 

What you’ll do during the program

Data center operations and hardware support

• Perform rack-and-stack activities for servers, network devices, and supporting infrastructure.

• Assist with server deployments, hardware upgrades, component replacements, and decommissioning activities.

• Perform basic break/fix tasks following approved procedures.

• Support hardware lifecycle management.

• Learn troubleshooting techniques and escalate issues when appropriate.

Network installation and cabling

• Install, organize, and label copper and fiber cabling.

• Assist with network equipment installations.

• Verify cable integrity.

• Learn networking fundamentals and data center communication standards.

Ticket management and operational support

• Complete assigned work using approved ticketing systems.

• Document completed work and operational activities.

• Follow service-level agreements (SLAs), operational procedures, and escalation processes.

Inventory and logistics

• Receive, stage, track, audit, and ship equipment.

• Maintain inventory records.

• Support warehouse and material handling activities.

Safety and compliance

• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Method of Procedures (MOPs), and safety requirements.

• Follow Oracle security, compliance, and change management processes.

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

• Use required personal protective equipment (PPE).

 

Objective Minimum Qualifications

• At least one of the following:

  • Associate Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, Networking, Data Center Operations, or a related technical discipline; OR

  • Four (4) years of military service with relevant technical, operational, communications, logistics, aviation, electronics, maintenance, or infrastructure experience; OR

  • Two (2) years of experience in data center operations, technical support, IT infrastructure, networking, telecommunications, electronics, or related fields.

• Minimum 18 years of age

• Demonstrated interest in technology and a desire to build a career in data center operations.

• Ability to learn technical concepts and follow documented procedures with precision.

• Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.

• Basic understanding of mathematical and computational concepts.

• Basic computer skills. Experience with a MAC is a plus though not required.

• Professional attitude with a customer-focused mindset.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely.

• Ability to climb ladders, work at height, and operate in confined spaces as required.

• Ability to perform physically demanding work in a data center environment, including standing or walking for most of the shift.

• Ability to work non-standard schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and shift-based assignments.

• Access to reliable personal transportation to travel to, and between, assigned data center buildings during the shift, as needed.

• Ability to travel locally and up to 5% domestically as required.

• Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. For clarity purposes, this means that Oracle is not in a position now, or in the future, to offer US immigration sponsorship. This includes, but is not limited to, support of H-1B, TN, O-1, green card, or F-1 e.g. EAD, OPT, CPT, I-20, F-1 visa stamp etc.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting data center or cloud infrastructure environments.
• Experience with ServiceNow, JIRA, or similar ticket management platforms.
• Familiarity with enterprise server, storage, and networking equipment.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
• Linux command-line experience.
• Experience with RAID, fiber optics, and structured cabling systems.
• ESD, electrical safety, ladder, powered equipment, server lift, or related certifications.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale IT infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of server hardware, storage, and networking technologies.
• Ability to troubleshoot routine operational and technical issues with limited supervision.
• Strong procedural discipline and documentation skills.
• Demonstrated attention to detail, quality, safety, and operational rigor.
• Ability to identify opportunities for operational improvement.
• Ability to mentor and support developing technicians.
• Effective communication across teams and stakeholders.

US: Hiring Range in USD from $13.03 to $24.81 per hour; from: $27,100 to $51,600 per annum.


Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
