About the Role:

As the Category Development Manager, you will play a critical role in developing and executing retail sales strategies to drive growth. You will work cross-functionally to optimize major programs, surface insights, and maximize performance. This role requires someone passionate about the retail/CPG industry who can manage strategic initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

This role will report to the Sr. Manager, Sales Strategy and Operations.

This is a full-time, hybrid role with company benefits based out of Squatch HQ in Marina del Rey, CA.

The anticipated base compensation range for this role will be $100,000 to $130,000. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and local market rates.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide strategic and operational support to sales leadership
  • Analyze broad retail data sources (eg, Nielsen, POS) to spot account, regional, and national trends and surface risks and opportunities
  • Synthesize actionable insights using retailer data, internal/syndicated data sources, and shopper insights
  • Contribute to long-term growth planning and annual account planning grounded in industry trends and internal analytics
  • Optimize and maintain data from various sources, including NetSuite/Looker/Nielsen/IRI/SPINS/Circana as well as various customer-specific data portals, including managing costs and driving data strategy
  • Work with Finance and Strategic Operations to develop internal processes and evaluate external tools to support Trade Spend Management and Trade Spend Optimization
  • Create ad hoc, monthly, quarterly, and annual presentations to share category insights
  • Support the development and execution of annual long-range planning
  • Work with internal teams to build and scale sales processes such as forecasting, territory & account planning, opportunity management, and budget attainment using various tools, data, and techniques
  • Use data to support recommendations and tell compelling stories
  • Work closely with Sr. Manager, Sales Strategy & Operations, on a variety of high-priority strategic projects

About You:

  • Bachelor's Degree - ideally in Business, Marketing, quantitative, or technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in CPG or retail - ideally in a Category Manager or Insights/Analytics role
  • Previous experience with retailer, syndicated, and panel data sources, data analysis, and visualization tools
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint/Google Slides
  • Advanced understanding of CPG industry trends and category management processes
  • Self-starter mentality with a high degree of follow-through; able to own and take tasks to completion
  • Strong critical thinking skills to turn data into clear, actionable narratives
  • Leadership presence with the ability to communicate complex perspectives convincingly
  • Outstanding project management abilities both independently and with cross-functional teams
  • Interest in health and wellness, personal care, and/or retail/CPG industries with eagerness to drive impact
  • Someone who gets things done without perfect resources, is innovative, and works with a sense of urgency
  • Someone who has high standards, takes ownership, and is invested in the outcome
  • Someone who proactively helps others, stays positive, and has a good sense of humor
