Job Overview
Hurtado Barbecue is seeking an organized, high-energy, and detail-oriented Catering & Merchandising Assistant to join our team. This dynamic role is the best of both worlds: you will help prepare, transport, and serve our famous Texas barbecue for various indoor and outdoor catering events, while also managing the backend packaging, inventory, and fulfillment for our growing E-Commerce channels and retail merchandise line.

Key Responsibilities
Catering & Food Service Operations (Main Duty)
- Event Prep: Communicate closely with the Catering Director on event needs and help prepare all high-quality barbecue products for execution in a clean, healthy kitchen environment.
- Logistics & Setup: Safely transport food and equipment to and from various indoor and outdoor venues.
- Presentation: Decorate and set up food-serving areas at venues to ensure a great visual experience for guests.
- Service: Serve food and drinks at events, demonstrating thorough knowledge of all our ingredients and menu items.
- Customer Service: Provide outstanding, professional, and friendly customer service, attending to any customer needs or complaints with a positive attitude.
- Clean-Up: Maintain, break down, and clean food-serving areas after the events conclude.
- Multi-Locational: Must have the ability to be flexible and travel to the location the event or catering is coming out of. (Mansfield, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Arlington)
E-Commerce Fulfillment & Retail Merchandising
- Order Fulfillment: Carefully package, box, and label online orders placed through our e-commerce channels.
- Merchandise Management: Assist in prepping, sorting, displaying, and inventory-tracking Hurtado Barbecue retail merchandise (shirts, hats, sauces, rubs, etc.).
- Quality & Accuracy: Ensure all online shipments and retail orders are packed securely, look professional, and accurately match the customer's invoice.
- Inventory & Supplies: Keep shipping, merchandise, and catering supplies well-organized, stocked, and ready for use.
Job Requirements
- Excellent food preparation skills (catering or kitchen experience is a plus!).
- A certificate in culinary arts is a plus, but not required.
- Great eye for detail and food/merchandise presentation skills.
- Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A friendly, positive attitude and a commitment to excellent customer service.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record (for transporting catering orders).
