This is not an entry point into specialty nursing we're looking for RNs who can handle high-acuity cardiovascular interventions, maintain focus under pressure, and serve as a stabilizing force during complex procedures.

This position offers hands-on experience with cutting-edge cardiovascular procedures alongside a highly collaborative cardiology team. You must be clinically sharp, adaptable, and ready to take responsibility for patient outcomes from pre-op to recovery.

Must-Have Qualifications No Exceptions

️ Active RN license in Iowa or multistate compact license
️ Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program
️ BLS and ACLS certifications (current and valid)
️ Minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care, emergency, or ICU
️ Strong knowledge of hemodynamics, cardiac rhythms, and emergency response protocols
️ Must be available for on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

Previous Cath Lab experience or recent cross-training in interventional radiology
Experience with conscious sedation, sheath removal, and recovery
Familiarity with vascular access, stents, pacemakers, cardiac caths, and STEMI response
Iowa Mandatory Reporter Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Certificates (or willingness to obtain)

What You'll Do Core Responsibilities

As a Cath Lab RN, you are essential in managing patients through all phases of cardiac catheterization, including pre-procedure prep, intra-procedure support, and post-procedure recovery. You will:

• Prepare and assess patients prior to procedures (verify labs, allergies, NPO status, pre-meds)

• Assist in and circulate during cardiac and vascular procedures

• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and sedation responses during procedures

• Administer medications and contrast materials with full knowledge of safety protocols

• Maintain aseptic technique, catheter care, and sterile field integrity

• Recognize complications and intervene immediately using ACLS protocols

• Assist with emergency procedures such as cardioversion, temporary pacing, and resuscitation

• Document comprehensively, including supplies used, times, and patient response

• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and recovery nurses to ensure continuity of care

• Educate patients and families on post-procedure care and potential complications

• Participate in quality improvement and equipment safety inspections

Schedule & Call Expectations

Monday/Friday, Day Shift
Rotating On-Call (including weekends, evenings, and holidays)
Must be able to arrive within 30 minutes when called in
