Catholic Religious Education Coordinator–$18.00-$25.00 per hour– Anacostia-Bolling, D.C

The Role

Do you possess the necessary skills and experience to coordinate and nurture religious education programs effectively? Are you adept at program management, including budget planning and execution? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.

We are looking for an experienced Religious Education Coordinator- Catholic Church to join our friendly team.

In this pivotal position, you will play a central role in developing, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of the JBAB Chapel Catholic RE Program. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of administrative functions, including budget planning, program scheduling, and publicity coordination. You will be entrusted with the task of creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where individuals can deepen their understanding of Catholic teachings and traditions.

This is a part-time, 20 hours per week, 5 year contract vacancy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible to develop and maintain the JBAB Chapel Catholic RE Program.
  • Plan, prepare, and conduct training including all necessary training materials.
  • Assist the Catholic Priest in developing the following: Annual Calendar of events, Chapel Tithes and Offerings Fund budget, Appropriated Fund budget, and core volunteer training requirements. The RE Coordinator shall submit to the Priest a proposed annual RE calendar and budget for approval by 1 May.
  • Coordinate classroom, administrative and audiovisual support requirements for all RE programs. (Note: equipment is not to be removed from chapel without prior authorization).
  • Ensure facility requests for RE programs occurring are aligned with priests’ desires and all facility requests are submitted to be processed by Chapel staff in a timely manner.
  • Propose and create effective advertisements of RE programs and events and implement the advertisements upon approval by the Joint Base Senior Chaplain or designee.
  • Coordinate and ensure that all purchase requests for RE programs are properly completed and submitted in a timely manner in accordance with chapel operations instructions.
  • Attend all requested meetings to report on RE activities, events, and budget updates.
  • Other assigned duties.

The Person

  • Possess a minimum of three years of previous experience as a Director/Coordinator of Religious Education in Catholic Chapels/Churches and be able to furnish proof of doing so or possess a minimum of a master’s degree or equivalent in Religious Education with knowledge and ability to meet the requirements and needs of a Catholic Community in accordance with the standards of the Archdiocese.
  • Be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English in order to perform all responsibilities outlined within the PWS.
  • Shall be certified for Religious Education leadership in the Roman Catholic Church/Military Archdiocese.
  • Must be able to efficiently organize and manage diverse program elements.
  • Must understand the basics of planning, developing, and executing a budget.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computers in order to perform all administrative tasks and be familiar with Microsoft Office products.
