Position Purpose:
The Peoria Tribe Early Childhood Program understands the important role Child Care Programs play in the development of work force. Families and Communities rely on high-quality, reliable childcare options in order for parents to join the workforce and maintain employment. The Early Childhood Administrative Assistant will support the Early Childhood Department in office functions and other administrative duties necessary for operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Answers phones and manages messages.
In conjunction with the Director of Early Childhood, organize administrative documents, requisitions, and office inventory.
Performs limited work with owners, administrators, boards, and child care providers to process and organize forms, reports, and application relevant to the childcare subsidy program.
Monitors and assesses certification criteria for the differential quality rate and the special needs rate for children with disabilities.
Prepares and maintains required records pertaining to child care registration activities and prepares reports as required.
Under the direction of the Director of Early Childhood, communicate and explain deficiencies requiring corrective action to child care providers, recommendation for appropriate corrective action, time frames for corrections.
Attend all required meetings, training, and workshops.
Participates in individual and staff conferences and committee work as assigned.
Reporting any suspected Child Abuse and Neglect in accordance with State, Tribal and Federal
laws.
Maintains confidentiality regarding all information regarding families, co-workers and self in
accordance with the Early Childhood departmental confidentiality policy.
Other duties as assigned by Director.
Education and Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years office experience is preferred
Experience working with child care programs preferred.
Experience working with state licensing requirements.
Understanding of federal CCDF compliance requirement.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work with a diverse population
Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
Must be able to read, understand, apply and retain knowledge of departmental rules,
regulations, and policies.
Outstanding organizational abilities and must be able to prioritize.
Productive and effective time management, flexibility in responding to a variety of work tasks.
Proficiency with basic information technology.
Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods of time in order to properly.
perform the assigned job duties.
Knowledge of Tribal government and intricacies involved.
Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with families.
Requirements
Certifications:
Valid Driver’s License and Insurance.
