CDL A Local Grocery Driver - Tuesday to Saturday

Two days off in a row every week, and one of them is Sunday. This local grocery route runs Tuesday to Saturday, gets you home every night and pays a weekly minimum of $1,634. We are hiring CDL A drivers based out of Chester, NY.

What You Earn

• Weekly Minimum: $1,634 when you complete your 5 scheduled days
• Yearly Average: $83,600 to $87,600 over the last 6 to 12 months, depending on seniority
• Per Mile: $0.68 to $0.74
• Per Stop: $28.50 to $30, and $62.50 for each load into New York City
• Detention: $15 per hour
• Holidays: $280 per day for 6 paid holidays
• Training Days: $200 per day while you learn the account

Your Week

• Days: Tuesday to Saturday, with Sunday and Monday off
• Start Times: between 9 AM and 1 PM
• Extra Days: 2 paid 6th days per month, mostly around the 6 major holidays
• Always Off: Thanksgiving and Christmas
• Home Time: every night, with routes staying within 250 miles of Chester

What You Haul

• Loads: fresh and frozen groceries in 48 to 53 foot reefers, delivered to supermarkets and distribution centers
• Pace: usually 2 loads a day or one longer run, about 15 or more stops per week
• Unloading: mostly no touch, the store team unloads while you assist
• Where: Hudson Valley, New Jersey and Connecticut, with backhauls that can reach Pennsylvania
• City Work: only 20 to 25% of loads go into NYC, and you will not run there until you have 6 months on the account and training with a certified NYC trainer
• Helping Out: 2 to 3 days a week on nearby accounts, where a pallet jack may be needed (training provided)

Equipment and Support

• Trucks: automatic and manual day cabs averaging 3 years old or newer, shared with an opposite shift driver
• Uniforms: provided and cleaned by the account
• Orientation: paid and completed online

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL and at least 21 years old
• Verifiable tractor-trailer experience: 3 months in the last 6 with one carrier, 6 months in the last 12, or 12 months in the last 5 years
• Your own reliable transportation to the account every day
• Friendly with customers, since you work directly with store teams
• No DUI/DWI in the last 5 years and no major preventable accidents in the last 3 years
• No more than 2 moving violations and no careless or reckless driving in the last 3 years
• Hair and urine drug testing required
