CDL Class A Delivery Driver

Position: Driver - CDL

Position Overview:

Delta Metals is looking for an experienced CDL Class A delivery driver. No two days will be the same in this job. Most deliveries will be local, but some could extend as far as Jacksonville or Charleston.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Ability to work with minimal supervision


• Ability to make judgment as to hauling safe loads


• Ability to listen and be trained by some of our more experienced drivers


• Ability to learn our operation


• Ability to work courteously with customers, co-workers, and others


• Provide prompt and courteous service to customers.


• Ability to drive a forklift (we will provide training/certification)


• Ensure truck is up to par on driver logs.


• Inspect truck and trailers daily for any DOT related violations.


• Listen to scale operator/yard manager for location of material


• Redirect loads based upon load contents; specifically, do not accept loads containing hazardous or unauthorized waste, or other materials not in compliance with regulations


• Safely and properly tie down all loads before transport


• Always maintains work area and equipment in a safe and clean condition.


• Maintain all required records, including Medical Cards and CDLs


• Will occasionally operate a boom truck and dump truck


• Will be required to work overtime, weekends, and during emergency conditions as needed.


• Perform other duties as assigned, specifically in the manufacturing shop, when not driving.


• Requires the ability to use a phone and tablet to input data, such as timecard information, emails, etc.


• Bilingual (Spanish) a plus for this role

Skills & Requirements:

• Class A CDL


• 2 years of driving experience


• Must be able to lift 75 pounds


• Must be able to lift, bend, & stoop regularly


• Must be able to load and unload cargo


• Must maintain a clean driving record

Job Location: 218 East Lathrop Avenue, Savannah, GA 31415

Working Environment: Work is typically performed while driving to various job sites to and from the shop.

Salary: Starting at $23/hour
