CDL DRIVER / TRUCK DRIVER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Safely operate commercial trucks and tractor-trailers


• Transport freight and materials to designated locations


• Complete local, regional, dedicated, or OTR routes as assigned


• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections


• Maintain accurate driver logs and required documentation


• Follow DOT regulations and company safety procedures


• Secure cargo and verify loads before transportation


• Communicate with dispatch regarding routes, deliveries, and scheduling


• Maintain professional communication with customers and shipping locations


• Report equipment issues, accidents, or safety concerns


• Maintain assigned truck and equipment in safe operating condition


• Meet pickup and delivery schedules while maintaining safe driving practices

CDL DRIVER / TRUCK DRIVER QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)


• Class A CDL preferred for many opportunities


• Previous commercial truck driving experience preferred


• Safe driving record


• Ability to meet DOT requirements


• Ability to pass required background, driving record, and drug screenings


• Strong communication and time-management skills


• Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles and equipment


• Tanker, HazMat, doubles/triples, or other endorsements are a plus for applicable positions

Requirements vary by employer and position.

CDL DRIVER SKILLS (CLASS A CDL / TRUCK DRIVER)

CDL driver skills include commercial truck driving, tractor-trailer operation, freight transportation, route planning, load securement, vehicle inspections, and DOT compliance. Experience operating Class A commercial vehicles, dry vans, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or other commercial equipment may be preferred depending on the position.

Experience with local delivery, regional trucking, dedicated routes, and over-the-road (OTR) trucking is valuable. Drivers should understand Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, electronic logging devices (ELDs), pre-trip inspections, post-trip inspections, defensive driving, freight documentation, and commercial vehicle safety.

Additional experience with HazMat transportation, tanker operations, doubles/triples, manual transmissions, team driving, drop-and-hook freight, no-touch freight, and dedicated accounts may qualify candidates for additional opportunities.
