Job Description - CDL Equipment Operator


 

Are you an experienced CDL Equipment Operator who enjoys variety in your day, working outdoors, and being part of a team that makes a meaningful environmental impact? At Riparia Environmental, we specialize in environmentally responsible fieldwork and we’re looking for a dependable, safety-focused operator to join our Vancouver, WA team.

As a CDL Equipment Operator, you’ll play a vital role in our stormwater, erosion control, habitat restoration, and general environmental field services. You’ll operate a wide range of heavy and light equipment to support field operations across varied terrain and weather conditions.

We intend to fill this position with a candidate who brings with them a critical and related set of skills, knowledge, and experiences. All are encouraged to apply, even those who believe they do not meet every single one of the qualifications. 

Responsibilities:

  • Operating CDL vehicles and equipment including vacuum trucks, dump trucks, hydroseeders, tankers, pump trucks, pressure washers, and water trucks
  • Operating heavy machinery such as excavators, skid steers, mowers, and other mobile equipment
  • Performing general work tasks including digging, lifting, loading, mowing, potholing, trenching, and cleaning.
  • Using hand and power tools safely and efficiently
  • Supporting site maintenance and basic mechanical upkeep of equipment
  • Completing all required paperwork such as work orders forms, daily inspections, JHA’s, and routine maintenance logs
  • Working in diverse environments including urban, rural, remote, and wet conditions
  • Collaborating with field crews, project managers, and supervisors to meet project goals on time and safely
  • Follow all company and OSHA mandated safety policies and procedures
  • Follow local and federal DOT regulations while assisting in the operation of machinery and vehicles

Qualifications:

  • CDL Class B license required with Tanker Endorsement (Class A preferred)
  • 2+ years of equipment operation experience in field construction, stormwater, or related industries
  • Comfortable with physical labor in all weather conditions
  • Ability to operate all types of required equipment
  • Mechanically inclined and capable of troubleshooting basic equipment issues
  • Ability to work safely around traffic, water, heavy equipment, and uneven terrain
  • Willingness to work overtime and non-standard hours as needed to meet project demands—including early mornings, nights, evenings, and occasional weekends
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, including DOT requirements
  • Strong team attitude and positive communication style
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • Must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time, bend and twist at the waist, climb stairs, and walk without assistance
  • Minimum of 21 years old

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as various market and business considerations.

The wage range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr depending on experience.

MacKay Sposito pays for expenses associated with licensure as well as annual profit sharing bonuses.

Employment requires passing a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
