New drivers worry about three things. Will I get paid while I learn? Will someone actually teach me? Will I ever see home? On this fleet the answers are yes, yes and every two weeks. We are hiring recently licensed Class A drivers from Bremerton, Port Orchard and across the Kitsap Peninsula for dry van lanes west of the Mississippi. Training pay here is $900 a week, one of the higher training rates you will find.
The money, start to solo
Will someone actually teach me?
Yes. You spend 3 to 5 weeks, about 200 to 250 hours, beside an experienced mentor. You haul real freight on the same lanes you will run alone. You do not go solo until your mentor signs you off.
What does a normal week look like?
Around 2,000 miles of dry van freight through the western states, the Rockies and Texas. Loads do not cross east of the Mississippi. Some weekends you will work, and every two weeks you go home.
How do I get started?
Orientation lasts two days or less and pays $300 once you are hired. A one-way bus ticket to get there is reimbursed with your receipt. After orientation, training starts.
Equipment
Late-model tractors averaging about a year and a half old, with automatic and 10-speed transmissions.
Pets and riders
Once you finish training, you may bring one approved dog up to 40 pounds. Solo drivers can apply for the adult rider program.
Benefits after 30 days
Medical, prescription, dental and vision plans you can shape around your family. A 401(k), employee stock purchase, life and disability coverage, and a free online degree program for you and one dependent.
