Job Description - C.E. King High School - Academy Principal

Under the direction of the Principal, this position supervises the management of the school, instructional programs, teacher and student performance, promoting public relations within the community, and making sure that the learning environment is healthy and productive.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
* Ability to demonstrate understanding of school operations
* Ability to demonstrate instructional leadership, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
* Ability to interpret data and address the needs of school and community
* Ability to coordinate campus support operations
* Ability to problem solve, think critically, and manage conflicts
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Master's degree
* Texas Mid-Management or Principal certification
* Certified T-TESS Appraiser
* Five (5) years experience as a classroom teacher
* One (1) year leadership role
Major Responsibilities and Duties:

* Participates in developing, managing, and evaluating instructional programs, including magnet programs, as related to student achievement data.
* Promotes a positive, caring climate for learning.
* Promotes the use of technology in the teaching/learning process.
* Supervises campus operations in the principal's absence.
* Ensures that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.
* Implements a student management system that results in positive student behavior
* Ensures that school rules are uniformly observed and student discipline is appropriate and equitable.
* Conducts conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
* Participates in the development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members.
* Assists with the planning/administration of daily school activities including class schedules, attendance monitoring, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules.
* Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
* Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator's Code of Ethics
* Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Share supervisory responsibility for professional staff with the school principal. Supervise teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel, and others as assigned.
Equipment Used:
* Office equipment - personal computer, printer, calculator, multi-line telephone, software programs and peripherals, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to the position.
* Communication equipment - radio communication equipment, cellular telephone
* Video monitoring equipment

* Maintain emotional control under stress
* Work with frequent interruptions
Physical Demands:
* Frequent: Sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs and/or ramps, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking, visual acuity, distinguishing colors, driving, traveling.
* Occasional: Lifting, moderate, 15-44 pounds; carrying, moderate, 15-44 pounds
Environmental Factors:
* Frequent exposure to temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination, vibration
* Occasional exposure to biological hazards (infectious diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.), work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces, work alone, work prolonged or irregular hours.
Works a 212-day calendar. The salary posted is a range. Salary will be based on experience.
