Job Description - Central Supply Clerk


Central Supply Clerk- Part time

(Monday - Thursday 9am to 1pm)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

A Central Supply Clerk plays a vital role in ensuring healthcare facilities have the necessary supplies and equipment readily available for patient care and overall operations. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supply Management:
    • Ordering and receiving supplies from vendors, including but not limited to Office Supplies.
    • Shipping supplies out to satellite clinics 
    • Unpacking, organizing, and stocking medical supplies, scan packing list
    • Maintaining accurate inventory records of all items.
    • Conducting regular inventory checks and audits.
    • Monitoring supply levels, maintaining par levels and checking for expired supplies.
    • Reconciling received orders with packing slips, reporting discrepancies and end of month inventory counts
  • Distribution:
    • Collecting and filling supply requisitions from various departments.
    • Delivering supplies to nursing stations and designated areas.
  • Organization & Maintenance:
    • Maintaining a clean, organized, temp control of the Central Supply area.
    • Ensuring proper storage of supplies and equipment.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    • Relaying customer issues and feedback to leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in supply or inventory management, particularly in a healthcare setting, is preferred.
  • Basic math and accounting skills may be needed for budgeting.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.
  • Ability to lift and move objects, potentially up to 50 pounds. 

In essence, a Central Supply Clerk is responsible for the efficient and accurate management of medical and other supplies within a healthcare setting, contributing to quality patient care and smooth operational flow. 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, notes, letters and memos; Ability to write simple correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret bar graphs.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in situations of a routine nature.

Regularly responsible for property where carelessness or error would result in only minor damage or minor monetary loss. Almost continuous care and attention is required when handling this property in order to prevent loss.

Probable errors of internal scope should ordinarily be detected within the department or office in which they occur but may affect the work of others within the unit, requiring additional expenditure of time to trace errors and make all necessary corrections. Errors would require a moderate amount of time to correct.

This is a part time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
