ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Position-Specific Performance Expectations, Duties, and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for planning, organizing, marketing, and performing sports medicine, rehabilitation,
wellness, and fitness-related services, to be performed at MRH's facilities, schools, physicians'
offices, and other athletic venues.
• Must be a positive and supportive team member to MCSD staff members and the hospital.
• Performs athletic training services at home MCSD sports events.
• Supervises student trainers.
• Performs all athletic training services at MCSD.
• Coordinates post-concussion rehab for MCSD students/athletes.
• Performs outreach services to local recreational sports as needed.
• Participates in interdepartmental process improvements and process evaluation.
• Creates and implements off-season sports-specific camps.
• Attends monthly staff meetings.
• Interacts with other departments in solving problems and working as a team.
• Acts as an internal consultant and educator to hospital staff in areas of expertise as needed.
• Demonstrates a professional and caring attitude.
• Strives to ensure continual compliance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures
and State/Federal Regulations.
• Ability to work in a variety of therapeutic settings, including acute care, inpatient, and outpatient.
• Participation in mandatory in-services.
• Can identify and access the system to report abuse of employees and/or patients.
• Adheres to policies and procedures for infection control, HIPAA, safety, and risk management.
• Participates in professional training and growth.
• Cleans treatment areas and office space.
• Orders assistive devices for patients as needed.• Communicates with patient(s)/student-athletes, coaches, and colleagues.
• Completes documentation and appropriate billing promptly.
• Demonstrates professionalism.
• Advocates for patients through the health process.
• Assists administration and supervisor with budgeting, ordering, and capital equipment purchases.
• Assists Orthopedic surgeons in clinic pm.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Establishes and maintains effective verbal and written communication, fostering positive working
relationships with patients, staff, and vendors.
• Adheres to the MRH attire and dress code in accordance with organizational policies and
procedures.
• Exhibits initiative and self-motivation; maintains a consistent level of productivity and
manages time and responsibilities effectively.
• Completes all required annual education, training, in-services, and licensure/certification
updates; actively participates in departmental and organizational meetings or reviews meeting
minutes as required.
• Maintains strict patient confidentiality at all times.
• Reports to work punctually and completes assigned duties within established timeframes.
• Actively contributes to departmental and organization-wide performance improvement and
continuous quality initiatives.
• Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, maintaining adherence to departmental,
hospital, state, and federal standards and policies.
• Follows all infection control, safety, and risk management procedures to maintain a safe
environment for patients, the public, and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be at least 18 years of age (21 for positions requiring driving, with a valid driver’s
license).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must successfully pass a background check.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if
applicable).
• Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.
EDUCATION, LICENSURE(S), AND CERTIFICATION(S)
Required Preferred
â â Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) from an accredited Board of Certification.
Master’s degree (Bachelor’s degree if earned prior to Fall term 2022) for Athletic
â â Training (Ats) from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education
(CAATE)-accredited program.
â â Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire)
â â Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire).
EXPERIENCE
Required Preferred
â â
One (1) year of clinic, hospital, school, collegiate, professional sports, or
occupational health setting.
