We’re looking for a CDM:
The Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) makes certain that the nutritional screening, food preferences, and food acceptance are accurately obtained, monitored, and recorded in the medical record in accordance with state/federal regulations and facility guidelines. Collaborates with Registered Dietitian (RD) on a continuing basis to ensure all residents are receiving optimal care as it relates to food and nutrition. The CDM will also ensure that any food and/or fluid related interventions are added to plans of care. The position is hard work. It entails doing what is directed of you to do by your supervisor at the time, manner, method, and location directed.
$26-$29/hour
Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of a CDM:
• Communicates with the Registered Dietitian and Executive Chef regarding meal planning for the Care Services Center.
• Coordinates with the Registered Dietitian for certification of the menus/menu extensions and sees to the publishing and posting of Certified Menus.
• Assist the DDS or DRM with overseeing dining areas within the Care Services System, ensuring a Fine Dining approach for all Assisted Living Residents and a Family style/ direct dining approach for all Memory Care and Skilled Nursing residents.
• Assist the DDS with the resident snack program ensuring that appropriate par levels are set.
• Assist the DDS and /or DRM with sanitation programs/schedules including daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules and sanitation inspections, according to our policies.
• Coordinate with the Director of Nursing, RD and other care plan team member in managing the medical needs of the resident such as weight loss management, Medically Managed dietary therapy etc.
• Must participate and manage the weight report for the Quality Assurance Meetings (with assistance from Registered Dietitian)
• Report to the Care Services Administrator (CSA) and DON any significant concerns related to clinical dietary issues that are occurring consistently for follow up
• Responsible for completion of Section K (Nutritional section) of the MDS
• Conducts required resident nutritional screening which includes obtaining food/fluid intake information, food preferences, food allergies and intolerances.
• Assists Registered Dietitian when needed when calculating nutritional intake for each skilled nursing admission / resident.
• Identifies nutrition problems, needs of individual residents and alerts Registered Dietitian as needed. Assists Registered Dietitian in care-planning to correct deficiency.
• Implements diet plans per physician’s diet orders using appropriate modifications.
• Utilizes standard nutrition care procedures in accordance to CDM scope of practice.
• Documents nutritional assessment data in the medical record as required per Policy and State/Federal guidelines.
• Reviews intake records, does visual meal rounds Participates in Resident Care Conferences.
• Counsels admissions on basic diet restrictions and provides basic diet information
• Specifies standards and procedures for food preparation as per policy
• Provides direction or input as needed for preparation and serving of therapeutic diets and supplemental feedings
• Protects food in all phases of preparation including but not limited to holding, serving, cooling, and during transportation.
• Monitors pantries and kitchens to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures of the governing body in compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Monitors food to ensure temperature is holding at 135 degrees or higher and liquids at 40 degrees or below. Records temperatures in appropriate logs. 16. Monitors refrigerator and cooler temperatures to ensure they meet regulation and record in appropriate log. Notify maintenance immediately if temperatures are not in compliance
Here are a few of the qualifications we need you to have:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certified Dietary Manager Designation by state accepted / recognized institution or equivalent required.
• Two years-experience in a similar position desired.
• Experience with EMR software (i.e. PCC) and miscellaneous software.
All new hires must be able to pass our preemployment screening process, which includes a fitness for duty physical, background check, drug test and employment references as required by a licensed residential care facility.
