Certified Medical Assistant Cetechs is seeking Certified Medical Assistants to support health care providers in the delivery of patient care by performing both clinical and administrative duties. This role involves direct patient interaction, technical procedures, and clerical support to ensure efficient clinic operations and high-quality patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist health care providers during patient examinations and treatments.
Prepare patients for examination by taking and recording vital signs and medical histories.
Draw blood and administer medications as directed by health care providers.
Perform procedures within the scope of practice, including sterile dressing application and packing, enemas, suture/staple application and removal, and applying orthopedic splints as prescribed.
Assist providers with minor surgical procedures such as biopsies, laceration repairs, and small lump excisions.
Complete routine treatments as prescribed, including electrocardiograms, peak flow measurements, point-of-care blood glucose and urinalysis testing, and lab specimen collection (including venipuncture).
Assist with patient flow by measuring vital signs and weight, and scanning laboratory results into the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR) system.
Ensure all procedures are performed following standard infection control protocols.
Assist patients with dismissal from the clinic and ensure they understand follow-up care instructions.
Maintain and clean equipment, perform minor troubleshooting or repairs, and report defective equipment for corrective action.
Ensure instruments and unapproved items are not left in the clinic during non-patient care hours, adhering to all storage and security procedures.
Complete various clerical and support duties, including the use of institutional-specific computer programs such as SENTRY.
Acquire and maintain knowledge of the Health Services Manual and unit procedures necessary to support the clinic’s mission.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant
Certified as a Medical Assistant with a valid cert/license to practice in the state of West VA.
Must be a US Citizen
Clinical experience working with ill patients or individuals in custody; hospital or clinic preferred
Active CPR certification (Basic Life Support)
Experience in providing healthcare in a correctional setting (Preferred)
