Position Summary
The Medical Assistant (MA) plays an essential role in supporting patient care within a multidisciplinary team environment. The MA assists providers with clinical procedures, patient education, charting, and overall clinic flow—ensuring a welcoming, culturally respectful, and efficient experience for all patients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Education: Completion of an accredited AAMP program. Must have proof of a Certified Washington State Department of Health license in Medical Assisting. Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) Certification. Requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in a community health or hospital setting.
Other Skills: Excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills required. Compassion for patients is required. Must be able to work well in a team setting. Ability to multitask with the ability to anticipate future needs. Basic computer user skills required. Medical terminology and accurate spelling ability required. CPR/AED certified for a Health Care Provider. Possesses critical working knowledge of current lifestyles and patient outcomes. Must successfully pass a criminal background check, OIG check, and a pre-employment UA/BA.
Physical Demands
Medical Assistants are required to stand, sit, and be mobile one-third to two-thirds of the time. They are required to use their hands and arms. Climbing or balancing occurs less than one-third of the time, while stooping, kneeling, or crouching occurs between one-third and two-thirds of the day. Communicating by talking / hearing occurs over two-thirds of the day. Amount of time spent lifting or exerting force is about 50% for up to 10 pounds and less than one-third of the time up to 25 pounds. Rarely is there a need to lift more than 26 pounds. MAs must be able to travel and manage stress.
