Certified Medicine Technician (CMT)

SUMMARY: With supervision, administers medications to students with multiple disabilities aged 3-5 years. 

ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

Essential Functions: 

1. Administers medications – Gastronomy (G-Tube) and otherwise. 

2. Performs G-Tube feedings. 

3. Implements health management plans. 

4. Completes paperwork associated with medication administration and health management plans. 

Marginal Functions: 

1. Implements physical management plans. 

2. Accompanies students in medical emergencies. 

CONDITIONS: 

Equipment Used: Augmentative communication Devices; computer; copy machine; and a variety of instructional equipment; exercise/recreational equipment; and mobility Devices; ALFA keyboard; adaptive/therapeutic equipment; assistive technology devices' and health related equipment. 

Performance Standard: Will assure 100% commitment to the integration, coordination, and implementation of student programs, and compliance with supervision, health, and safety standards. 

Work Environment: Multiple indoor and outdoor environments around and off campus with varying sound, lighting, and temperature conditions. May be exposed to various conditions when providing direct care to assigned students. 

Work Schedule: 37.5 hours Mon-Fri. This position follows an 11-month schedule. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. Minimum High School Diploma/GED. 

2. CMT certification and G-Tube feeding and medication administration certification required. 

3. Comprehensive knowledge of medication administration and health management programs. 

4. Requires at least two (2) years of successful experience in administering medications. 

5. Requires at least one (1) year of successful experience in administering G-Tube medications and performing G-Tube feeding. 

6. Basic knowledge of interdisciplinary team concept. 

7. Valid Driver’s License and ability to operate motor vehicles in relation to student trips and emergencies. 

8. Current First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
