Certified Nursing Assistant

We are licensed professionals, but first we are Christ followers with a mission to “serve Jesus Christ by caring for His children.” Special Kids offers professional services to children ages birth months through 21 years. CNA's (Certified Nurse Assistants) ) at Special Kids’ Kleinau Nursing Center serve medically fragile children who need skilled nursing care, in collaboration with  RN's (Registered Nurses). Full-time, 36 hours per week, benefits, paid time off, no evenings, weekends or company recognized holidays. 

Summary

Assists Nurses in providing direct care for medical needs and activities of daily living for children enrolled in the Skilled Nursing program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Obtains vital signs and informs the nurse of abnormal findings.
• Diaper changes, toileting, and repositioning with under the supervision of nurses.
• Assists with enteral and/or oral feedings. 
• Assists with daily activities. 
• Assists at Front Desk checking patients in and out and answering and transferring phone calls. 
• Cleans work area and equipment as assigned and as needed throughout the workday.
• Participates in department quality improvement activities including, but not limited to, departmental training, routine staff meetings, and routine one-to-one meetings.

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) Diploma (formerly GED) and successful completion of an approved nurse aide training program.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software and web-based applications such as electronic medical records.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Certified Nurse Tech state license required. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider with skills testing certification required.
