Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Medical Surgical - Decatur, GA

Avant Tech is currently seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join a highly respected federal healthcare facility in Decatur, GA. This is a full-time contract opportunity supporting a MedSurg/Acute Care unit on the night shift.

You’ll play a crucial role in direct patient care—helping veterans in need, supporting RNs, and delivering compassionate, hands-on assistance in a high-acuity environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with ADLs (bathing, dressing, eating, ambulation)
• Take and record vital signs; report changes to RN
• Assist in diagnostic procedures (e.g., biopsies, lumbar punctures)
• Transport lab specimens and prep equipment for procedures
• Provide care for patients undergoing oxygen/chest therapy
• Monitor mental health environments and accompany patients as needed
• Document care, assist with patient histories, and update charts
  
  

• Active CNA certification (any U.S. state) - PCT or ICT may be accepted in lieu of CNA (REQUIRED)
• BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association only)
• Minimum 2 years of patient care experience
  (with at least 6months of recent)
• Ability to pass a government background check
• Experience in acute care, Med-Surg, or VA settings preferred

• Shift: Night shift: 1930–0800 (2x12hr) and 2330–0800 (2x8hr)
