Certified Nursing Assistant / Registration Receptionist

Position Summary

Primary role will be registration, scheduling and receptionist of the center.  Will serve as the liaison between doctors' offices looking to schedule patients for surgery.  Will check patients in, answer questions, discuss billing, collect patient information and gather necessary medical documentation from various establishments. 

Serves as support personnel following regulations for the practice of Nursing Assistants including assisting with patient registration, admissions, patient procedures, care and maintenance of procedural instrumentation, discharging patients, chart preparation, medical records, medication administration, assisting providers and other personnel as needed, and other collateral duties.

• Demonstrates proficiency in performing 12 lead EKG.

• Measures and records vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, respirations, and heart rate. Able to measure and record weights.
• Practices infection prevention practices.
• Demonstrates competency in computer skills when accessing clinical information.
• Assists supply management within the Center.
• Assists in the orientation of new personnel.
• Assists patients in generalized care.
• Utilizes correct body mechanics in moving, transporting, and positioning patients, stretchers, equipment, and/or tables in order to prevent injury to patient and personnel.
• Demonstrates knowledge of operation and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Assumes responsibility for learning new equipment and procedures and maintaining skills.
• Completes required orientation as directed by facility.
• Follows facility safety rules and procedures.
• Respects patient and staff rights.
• Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA regulations for patients and staff.
• Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
• Attends regular staff meetings and in-services.

Position Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited nursing assistant program or documented on the job training.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.
• • Current Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• • Ability to interact with a high volume of patients, families, and staff in a stressful environment.
• • Possesses aptitude for maintaining pace of facility patient flow.
• • Communicates clearly in written and verbal form.
• • Be able to provide proof of identity and the right to work in the United States
• Working Conditions
• Nursing Assistants spend a considerable amount of time walking, bending, stretching, and standing; they assist in patient transfers, so they must follow proper body mechanics to guard against injury. Staff may face hazards from exposure to chemicals and biological agents to include, but not limited to: body fluids and wastes such as urine, blood, sputum, etc.; they may be exposed to anesthetic gases, drugs, and radiation. The use of disinfecting and sterilizing agents may cause damage to skin and respiratory system.

• • Ability to lift twenty-five (25) pounds. Moving, lifting, or transferring of patients, instruments, and equipment may involve lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds.
