We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our school-based therapy team. In this role, you’ll work alongside licensed Occupational Therapists, educators, and support staff to help students access learning, build independence, and reach their full potential.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to students in alignment with IEP goals.
- Adapt classroom environments, tools, and materials under OT supervision to support student success.
- Assist in assessments of fine motor, sensory, and developmental skills.
- Implement therapeutic activities and train students, teachers, and parents in supportive strategies.
- Maintain accurate documentation and student records for compliance and progress monitoring.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, administrators, and families to support student growth.
- Attend IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development workshops.
What We’re Looking For:
- Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant required; Bachelor’s preferred.
- Current and valid NYS Occupational Therapy Assistant license.
- Knowledge of NYS regulations, IDEA, and the IEP process.
- Strong understanding of intervention strategies, assessments, and best practices in school-based therapy.
- Effective communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Compassion, creativity, and adaptability when working with students of varying abilities.
