Job Description - Certified Ophthalmic Assistant



VisionFirst Eye Care has a new opportunity for a certified ophthalmology assistant to join our growing team as a Clinical Coordinator.  This position will provide a high level of support to help coordinate the patient flow of a busy optometry office ensuring the highest level of patient care is provided efficiently and consistently.  Job duties for this position include, but are not limited to:



  • Coordinate the patient flow on the clinical side of the practice

  • Assist with training and scheduling of clinical staff members

  • Serve as a liaison for the doctors

  • Ensure accurate completion of necessary paperwork, such as referrals, prior authorizations, co-management, diabetic letters, etc. 

  • Help manage clinical inventory and order supplies as needed

  • Able to perform all job functions on the clinical side of the practice, including pre-testing, providing technical support, providing administrative/front desk support, and ensuring the highest level of customer service and patient care is provided at all times.


Qualifications:



  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) is required

  • At least one to two years of demonstrated success in an optometry or ophthalmology setting, preferably in a busy office

  • High level of computer skills with electronic health records (EHR) familiarity

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide the highest level of customer service

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to multitask and work well in a busy office environment

  • Optometry office is open Monday – Friday from 8am -6pm, and Saturdays from 8am-2pm.  Offices are closed on Sundays.
