Job Description - Certified Phlebotomist


Job Title: Certified Phlebotomist
Job Type: Full Time
Location:  Mare Island VA Outpatient Clinic, Vallejo, CA 94592
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m
Duties:
  • Verify patient identity by confirming two (2) patient identifiers (name, date of birth, and/or social security number) before collecting specimens.
  • Perform venipuncture following published laboratory procedures.
  • Collect adequate and properly labeled specimens.
  • Perform waived and/or non-waived testing.
  • Process specimens for testing and/or shipment to another laboratory.

Qualifications:
  • Certification: Must hold and maintain a current certificate by the State of California as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician.
  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year direct patient care experience performing venipunctures in a clinic or hospital setting.
  • Health Tests: Current within one (1) year tuberculosis testing, rubella testing, and immunizations.
