Certified Public Accountant

Harvest Preparatory Academy is a K-12 Charter School located in Yuma, Arizona. We are currently accepting applications for a qualified for Certified Public Accountant to work with our Finance Department. This position is a part-time position but can be hybrid or fully remote. Open to part-time employee or contractor.

JOB PURPOSE:  This position is responsible for consulting with the management team about expenses, minimizing expense, controlling budget variances and the proper application of capital. Money management and high-level budgetary items are the key responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Consult on Financial Management activities within the school district including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.


2. Review financial reports, statements, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with regulatory compliance.


3. Develop and manage the district's budget in collaboration with relevant departments, identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.


4. Conduct periodic internal audits to ensure adherence to accounting standards, policies, and procedures.


5. Prepare short and long-term financial forecasts of financial performance for use with internal management and external parties.


6. Oversee audit and tax functions, coordinate activities with outside audit firms and review firms' performance.


7. Provide guidance and training to staff members regarding financial practices, procedures, and policies. 


8. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (The following qualifications can be acquired and demonstrated through experience, education and/or vocational training as noted or as appropriate.)     

1. An MBA or CPA required.


2. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably within an educational institution.
   


3. Thorough understanding and knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations and compliance standards. 


4. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.


5. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with all partners.
